The CPI Calculator
- The value of money changes over time. Ten dollars in 1913 will buy you considerably more products than ten dollars in 2001. The reason for this is inflation. Economists measure inflation through two mechanisms: the Consumer Price Index and the GDP deflator. Just select a year and dollar amount and this calculator will adjust for inflation. Includes additional information about inflation too.
Paying off the mortgage
- This is one of the slickest mortgage calculators I've seen. Find out how long it will take to pay off a mortgage. Allows you to fiddle with the numbers by factoring in additional payments to see how much interest you'll save over the life of a loan. Creates an amortization schedule too. For the undisciplined investor (most of us) paying off a mortgage early is still one of your best investments!
