Internet Calculators
The Salary Converter
-
Find out what the salary you earn now is worth in another US or Canadian
city. There's always an element of guesswork to this type of computation,
but still interesting to compare!
The CPI Calculator
-
The value of money changes over time. Ten dollars in 1913 will buy you
considerably more products than ten dollars in 2001. The reason for this
is inflation. Economists measure inflation through two mechanisms: the
Consumer Price Index and the GDP deflator. Just select a year and dollar
amount and this calculator will adjust for inflation. Includes additional
information about inflation too.
Paying off the mortgage
-
This is one of the slickest mortgage calculators I've seen. Find out how long it will take to pay off a
mortgage. Allows you to fiddle with the numbers by factoring in additional payments to see how
much interest you'll save over the life of a loan. Creates an amortization schedule too. For the
undisciplined investor (most of us) paying off a mortgage early is still one of your best
investments!
Currency Converter
-
Currency converters are all over the Internet, but this is the easiest to
use and results are calculated based on exchange rates that are updated
once a minute.
Paying off a loan
-
This calculator determines how long it takes to pay off a loan. If you want to pay
off a loan ahead of schedule, you can find out what your monthly payments
need to be. Not just for mortgages! This calculator works for credit cards
or any credit that uses simple compounding interest.
Smart Personal Finance Made Easy
-
This site contains great little 'education modules' if you're willing to
take the time to teach yourself about personal finance. Find out what you
need to know before you buy or
lease a car. What's it worth to reduce your spending? What will it take
to become a millionaire? There's so much here you just have to see for
yourself! A very nicely done site.
